Giving Tuesday is a day dedicated to generosity and charitable giving on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving. It's a day when many people make donations to their favorite nonprofits. In this season of gifting and generosity, we are excited to once again highlight a cause very close to our hearts: mental health.
Here at Cute But Crazy Socks, we have had a busy year full of changes and challenges. When we rebranded in April we also entered into a partnership with NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, pledging 1% of all sales to the organization.
We really love what NAMI does. First and foremost, they provide resources and support to individuals experiencing mental illness and their families. They run support groups and also educate the public about mental health.
This Giving Tuesday we want to announce that we just wrote our first donation check to NAMI and thank our amazing customers for helping us raise $2,261.92 for this first installment of our giving.
While $2.2K is a great first step, it's also important to remember that for us (and most other retailers) the months of November and December represent around 50% of our total business in a given year. That means that shopping with us either in-store or online this holiday season is a great way to help us reach bigger donation goals and increase our impact. As the holidays approach, we hope you will think of us when you need an extra gift or two, and feel good knowing a portion of what you spend is going toward improving the mental health of our neighbors, our communities and our society as a whole. We can't do it without you!
We plan to keep collecting 1% of every sale for NAMI, keep using our "crazy socks" to start conversations about mental health, and keep you all updated when we make our next donation!
Of course Giving Tuesday is the perfect time to consider your own direct donation to NAMI, with gifts doubled through Dec. 31.
